New Identity      dm_logo_standard.

Duncan McNulty’s new logo was designed by still maintaining heritage to his previous branding, yet by moulding together the letters D and M to form a strong and well structured form that creates a sophisticated and versatile logo. The colour blue was used in the logo as it creates a sense of security while still showing loyalty and professionalism.

As well as designing Duncan McNulty’s website, Creative Director Adam Parker also took a majority of the photographs used on the website.

“Great service from the team at Savvy Web Studio. From the start I explained to Adam and Shannon exactly what I was after with a web page and they delivered a great product for me, with minimal input from myself. A great design and thought from them both, I would highly recommend them to anyone. I also have had some great comments on my new logo and business cards. Thanks Adam and Shannon once again for your assistance and input.”

What is a Corporate Identity System?

A corporate identity system is a defined system of graphical elements that represent your company. It’s how you create your companies ‘image’. The unique look of your logo should be integrated throughout all the elements of your business materials: business cards, stationary , packaging, signage, sales kits, media advertising, promotions etc. An identity system lays out guidelines to ensure consistency. It should include, colour and paper selections for printing, layout and design of stationary and promotional materials, secondary logos or icons for websites and packaging, etc.

It is very important to maintain the integrity of the new identity and keep this consistent in the style and design of all promotional material, this keeps sending the same message and creates awareness and professionalism.

Logo’s can generally be grouped into 3 types~

Acronyms/Monograms

These are made up of the first letters of each word in a company name.

Do not take this strategy unless you are prepared to spend money to establish it. e.g. IBM.

It can be limiting in design as it relies on the typeface only. Pairing the company name with a symbol is often a better way to convey a personality.

monogram-logos

Name-Only Logos (Logotypes or Typography Logos)

This is a one step communication tool. The logo is the name. There are no symbols to interpret, but it is limiting to connect the area of expertise. (i.e. the type of business). e.g. Xerox or Mobil.

logotype logos

Name/Symbol Combination

Often the best logo design. This conveys the business your company via the symbol and can impart the attributes and personality that define the character of a brand more easily that a word/typeface alone.
